Oncor Vegetation Management

(Letter from Oncor Directly to our HOA)

The planned tree removal for your area, originally scheduled for October, was rescheduled to give Oncor the opportunity to consider some concerns raised by the Home Owner’s Association (HOA) and other interested parties.

It was requested Oncor leave as many trees as safely possible in the area between Forest and Harvest Hill.  Oncor assessed the situation and met with HOA representatives as well as city council representative to review the revised vegetation management plan.

Oncor has agreed to leave some of the existing trees along the toll road.  Crews will remove trees from the center of the transmission line back thirty-five feet.  This will leave approximately fifteen feet where some trees will remain.  The exception will be any tree which presents a threat to reliability and/or safety by encroaching into the line; those trees may also be removed. While Oncor will leave some trees in place, trimming may still be necessary on those trees, in order to address safety. This plan will best address the neighbor’s concerns without compromising safety and reliability.

Oncor contractors will begin working, Tuesday, December 4th at 7:30a.m.  We anticipate the work lasting into next week.  This is a work zone area and safety is a priority. It is imperative onlookers not encroach into this space. There will be Oncor staff on-site to answer any questions you may have.

Once the vegetation work is complete, Oncor representatives will meet with HOA representatives to discuss the mitigation plan that will address some of the areas which may be impacted more than others.

We recognize initially the removal of any amount of trees in this area will be difficult and require some adjusting, particularly at this time of the year.  We are hopeful once the vegetation within the fifteen foot area returns, the adjustment will be easier and the results will be the beautification the neighbors enjoy.

Oncor will provide regular project updates to the HOA representative and city to ensure we keep the community informed throughout this project.  If you have any questions for Oncor regarding the work we are doing in this area, you may email michael.zander@oncor.com  and we will provide a response to your question.

We have sincerely appreciated your patience as we worked to develop a resolution to this matter and as we continue to work in your community to provide safe a reliable electric service.

Thank you,
